“VISIONS OF WARRIORS” TO SCREEN AT THE BRITISH ASSOCIATION OF ART THERAPISTS / INTERNATIONAL ART THERAPY PRACTICE/RESEARCH CONFERENCE

“Visions of Warriors” will be screening at the British Association of Art Therapists / International Art Therapy Practice/Research Conference on Saturday, 7/13/19, between 4:15 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. Because this feature documentary is 93 minutes long, a 10-minute preview will be screened. The screening will take place at the historic Queen Mary University of London, whose history dates back to 1785. According to their site, the respected British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT) is a “professional organization for art therapists in the UK” and “works to promote art therapy and provides professional support and advice to its members.” At its dynamic International Art Therapy Practice/Research Conference, “art therapists from 35 countries present the newest of practice innovations and research.” Thank you to Val Huet, Alex McDonald, and the British Association of Art Therapists for this great honor!

“VISIONS OF WARRIORS” TO SCREEN AT THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH / VETERANS AND LOVED ONES RECOVERY (VALOR)

We’re excited to announce that “Visions of Warriors” will be screening at the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health / Veterans and Loved Ones Recovery (VALOR) on Wednesday, 5/15/19, at 12:30 p.m. in celebration of Mental Health Month. The screening will take place at their headquarters in the historic Bob Hope Patriotic Hall. According to their site, VALOR’s mission is to “provide mental health services to Veterans and their families, regardless of VA eligibility status and military discharge, in a supportive environment.” The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health’s mission, in turn, is to “optimize the hope, recovery, wellbeing, and life trajectory of Los Angeles County’s most vulnerable through access to care and resources that promote not only independence and personal recovery but also connectedness and community reintegration.” Built in 1916, the Bob Hope Patriotic Hall is a Los Angeles landmark, serving as the home of the Los Angeles Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and many veterans services organizations. Born and raised in L.A., we love our great city and are honored to participate in this special event. We’re thrilled to announce that “Visions of Warriors” will be screening at the Woodward Park Regional Library in Fresno, CA on Tuesday, 4/23/19, at 6:00 p.m. This library is part of the extensive Fresno County Public Library system, which offers Veterans Resource Centers at their Central Branch Library and Betty Rodriguez Branch Library. This screening is made possible by “Californians: Community Conversations with Veterans,” a partnership between the California Center for the Book and Veterans Connect @ the Library. The library’s community partner for this screening is CalVet (California Department of Veterans Affairs). According to their site, “CalVet strives to ensure that its veterans of every era and their families get the state and federal benefits and services they have earned and deserve as a result of selfless and honorable military service.” Ryan Gardner, the clinical social worker who’s featured in the documentary, and Ming Lai, the director, will be attending the screening and participating in a Q&A afterward. We’re thrilled to announce that “Visions of Warriors” will be screening at the San Francisco Veterans Film Festival on Sunday, 11/4/18 at 2:16 p.m.. We’re deeply honored to screen our film at this growing festival in anticipation of Veterans Day. Because the film was made in the Bay Area, we’re excited to be able to share it with this vibrant community. According to its site, the “San Francisco Veterans Film Festival is a robust forum for active duty, Veterans and civilian filmmakers to express their creativity and to share their stories, which in turn helps further healing and brings greater awareness to the public on the challenges our nation’s Veterans face.” The festival is organized by One Vet One Voice, a comprehensive resource for veterans regarding VA benefits and services. The screening will take place at the stately San Francisco Public Library / Main Library in their Koret Auditorium. “VISIONS OF WARRIORS” TO SCREEN AT THE L.A. PUBLIC LIBRARY / MEMORIAL BRANCH LIBRARY

“Visions of Warriors” will be screening at the L.A. Public Library / Memorial Branch Library on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. in celebration of the upcoming Veterans Day. We are deeply honored to work with the L.A. Public Library again to celebrate Veterans Day. The Memorial Branch Library has a rich history. The land on which it is located was deeded by Los Angeles High School to the City of Los Angeles in 1923 to honor twenty alumni who died while serving in WWI. The Gothic Revival-style library was built in 1930 and designed by John C. Austin, who was the lead architect of the Griffith Observatory. The students of L.A. High School commissioned the renowned Judson Studios to create a beautiful stained glass window with the names of the twenty alumni and an inscription, “Peace Among Nations.” The library is listed on the the National Register of Historic Places. Thank you to Deborah Matthews, Loren Spector, Eugene Owens, and the L.A. Public Library for organizing this special event!
